Throwing/Catching Instructions
The Grip- The flat side of the boomerang should always face away from the thrower and the curved and painted/decorated side should always face you. Try then making a “thumbs up” with your throwing hand and then pinch either the Dingle arm wing tip or Lifter arm wing tip between the crotch of the thumb and forefinger.
-
Angle to throw at- Hold nearly vertical or at a right angle between 5 degrees and 20 degrees. The more “tilt” away from you, the greater height you’ll achieve in your throw as well as having it land further back. The more vertically thrown the lower to the ground it will travel with a faster “lie down” from the elliptical flight. * NEVER ATTEMPT TO THROW PARALLEL TO THE GROUND AS THE BOOMERANG WILL SAIL STRAIGHT UP AND THEN COME CAREENING BACK DOWN CAUSING POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO BOTH YOU AND THE BOOMERANG!!

- Catching Use a clapping motion with both hands when the rang is at least below shoulder level and at an angle where the arms are parallel to the ground. Never attempt to catch if the rang is coming at an angle. Always allow it to hover first until you increase your skill level. Be sure to wear gloves and eye protection as well!
The Throw- Aim the rang about 15 degrees above the horizon or while looking at an object 300-400 ft away. As you throw using mostly forearm force (I like to think of a whip being snapped) release the rang at the peak height of your throw while following through with a snapping motion and wrist bent downward to create optimal spin/rotation(think of quickly knocking on a door) and allow the rang to release itself from your grip by the shear momentum of your throw.
For the “Pencil Grip”, hold the same as the pinch, but overlap the index finger around the wing. Be sure to cock the rang as far back on your wrist as possible to achieve maximum spin and rotation. (*) I find an effective way of achieving greater spin with a heavier “rang” is to put my grip ¼ to one 1/3 of the way up from the tips. However, you may get less distance.<
Throwing with Wind- If right handed be sure to throw 45 degrees to the right of the wind direction that you’re facing. For Left handed 45 degrees from the left of the wind direction your facing.
