Throwing In Heavier Wind/No wind

    • TYPES OF THROWS :

Let me first advise you to try and avoid strong winds( for boomerangs this is over 10 mph) and certainly never attempt in high winds (over 20 mph) as the rangs will be unpredictable and may injure you, itself or someone/something else.

      • Surfing Throw- If the wind is yet still stronger and the drag hasn’t helped alone nor has throwing it with more force….try less force and more snap. Keep your tape on the Dingle arm about 2/3rds of the way up from the tip and make sure your flap of tape is at least 1/8 inch high. Now, when you release your throw gently, also be sure to throw like the Humpback, but with more layover. You’ll find the Boomerang will glide like a bird and hover around in the air looking for prey! Hopefully you!
Windless days-On days when the wind has diminished to less than 5 mph and is too hard to determine which direction it’s coming from, make an arbitrary choice as to what direction to throw and throw “lower”. Try throwing 5 degrees or more(depending on your first attempt) lower than the horizon or just below shoulder height parallel to the ground. Also be sure to give it more tilt/layover (30-60 degrees). The boom should start low go high quickly and come back at a steeper angle and then sweep the ground on its return. All in all a shorter flight range, but more accurate return with no wind.
Ultimately it’s a lot of trial by error and you’ll quickly discover what works best for you. However, I highly recommend trying each method once before trying or adding more techniques at the same time, until you’re familiar with how each rang will perform in the wind.

The Humpback Throw-Try throwing at 30-45 degrees above the horizon and nearly vertical and VERY hard with lots of spin. Just like Moby coming up for air!
